Contests are fantastic ways to get a good amount of exposure!
One of the huge advantages of us having a well established blog (along with lots of business contacts) is we have been able to sponsor some pretty sweet contests. This however does not mean that if you are just starting out and have few (if any) contacts that you cannot hold a successful contest. What it does mean however is you are going to have to work a little harder to get some buzz going.
When doing a promotion campaign, you should set your goal as “Traffic” not Google rankings, links or subscribers. Remember the Contest is part of the bigger picture and is a stepping stone to achieving your e-commerce goals.
Our best TIP
Don’t get too deep planning your strategy. Strategy is something you will re-evaluate every 30 days or so to make sure you are on the right track, but don’t get caught up in this phase. Spend less time as a “strategist” and more time “implementing” your strategy. Tweak to perfection.
