This is an opportunity for photographers–professional or amateur–to digitally capture and share the unique essence of Scotts Valley, California. Your photos should feature images of our special town in six categories: (1) people (2) animals and pets (3) black and white (4) landscape or nature (5) playtime and (6) unique depth of field.

A “People’s Choice” award will be determined by voting and will be announced on this site. Other winners will be juried and winners and prizes announced at a winner’s exhibition at the Scotts Valley Library beginning August 16.

#1: First Prize

First prize winners receive $30 each and their image is prepared for exhibition by Bay Photo and is shown at the Scotts Valley Library August 16 to November 1.

Second Prize winners receive $25 each and their image is prepared for exhibition by Bay Photo and is shown at the Scotts Valley Library August 16 to November 1.

#3: 6

The third prize winners are the “People’s Choice” winners.  They receive $20 each and their image is prepared for exhibition by Bay Photo and is shown at the Scotts Valley Library August 16 to November 1.  “People’s Choice” winners could also be winners in other categories.

#4: 6

“Honorable Mentions” may be awarded in six categories.  These images will be prepared for exhibition by Bay Photo and shown at the Scotts Valley Library August 16 to November 1.

Contest is open to all. You may submit one entry per category. Photos must be suitable for viewers of all ages. Images will be screened prior to posting. Winners will be selected by jury with the exception of the “People’s Choice” award which is determined by voting. If you choose to vote, you may vote once per day. There is no fee for voting.

By entering the Contest, the entrant agrees to release image(s) submitted for use by the City of Scotts Valley and its assigns at will, and the entrant further agrees to have their submitted name displayed in conjunction with their images(s) and used for any purpose, at any time, without any fee or other form of compensation. The entrant acknowledges and warrants that the submitted photography is an original work created solely by the entrant, that the photograph does not infringe on the copyrights, trademarks, moral rights, rights of privacy or intellectual property rights of any person or entity, and that no other party has the right, claim or interest in the photograph. The photograph must not contain obscene, provocative, defamatory, sexually explicit or otherwise objectionable content.
