What is the favorite Camera in use today?

We found this interesting blog with a graph highlighting  the most purchased cameras. Just remember all cameras have different features so think about what you will be using your camera for before you buy, read the blog:

“By no means have we arrived at any solid conclusions (and I wouldn’t expect us to) and by no means is the conversation over (you’re more than welcome to keep having your say) however I thought it would be interesting to do a little analysis of the conversation so far and have come up with the following graph which is an attempt at observing what the trend is so far in conversation.

Check out the graph at:

So what are the favorite Camera GRAPH

It was a difficult process to do as we have over 50 opinions already expressed and many of them contain numerous ‘votes’ (my fault for making the topic so broad) but the following is an indication of what I’m personally observing in the conversation.

The  ‘big two’ are Canon and Nikon – but there’s an interesting ‘battle’ going on at the second tier between Pentax, Fujifilm and even Olympus.

Canon and Nikon got a lot of votes particularly when it came to DSLRs (and Canon also did well for compacts) however Fujifilm was consistently nominated for best point and shoot – particularly with its low light sensor technology (I personally would concur with this as an owner).

Pentax was largely nominated for it’s DSLRs.

Tips on Taking Pictures of People

“There are several visual elements that make up a successful photograph of people. The person you are photographing is no doubt the most important element, but you do not need to show people close-up to get a great shot. If you are able to create an interesting composition, the people in the picture can be reasonably far away, and they do not necessarily have to be engaged in an interesting activity either. I also look for an interesting background and a composition that enhances the scene. Before pressing the shutter try several different viewpoints and angles, and experiment with both horizontal and vertical views. In India I took a picture of a man sleeping on a bench at a famous historic monument. There is nothing happening in the picture, but the interesting perspective and composition, and the beautiful color variations of the carved columns resulted in a great photograph.”

Wise words from travel photographer Volker Poelzl, so think of composition  the next time you are looking to get a great pictures of people.

Photography, more of what you see!

Hint of the Day

Look around you

When visiting a national monument, some people photograph what they’ve come to see. I always remind people that if there’s beauty in front of you, there’s probably beauty behind you. Look around, and you might find something unexpected to shoot. For example, I took  pictures while standing in one spot in Yellowstone National Park. Although I came to shoot mountains, I looked down and saw these contrasting flowers in the rocks. Then I looked up and saw a plane. The lines were interesting, so I snapped the shot. While I got my shots of the mountains, I also came away with a couple of nice surprises just by looking around.
